A Whole New World

Now that Owen is moving around everywhere, he is into all kinds of mischief. He is crawling like crazy, somewhat of an army crawl, one arm to pull himself, the other to guide his way...and he only uses his toes to propel himself. It's quite impressive. I couldn't do it, for sure. He is starting to pull himself up to stuff, but much prefers to pull himself up to us, and gets very frustrated when we don't cooperate the way he wants us to. He will be 10 months old on Friday. Can't believe I am starting to think about his 1st birthday...it just can't be true. I am deciding to take the approach of a friend of mine (thanks Hadley!) and post a bunch of pictures, but not quite as often. Because once they are on the move, time is even more precious than before:)

I came out of the other room the other day to find that he had made his way underneath the exersaucer.

He had been sleeping this way, with his feet up on the side of the crib. I tried to catch it but he woke up:(

Owen LOVED the pool more this time than last. I think he enjoyed watching other kids play and splash around. Every time another kid would scream, Owen would imitate it. It was pretty cute.

This is the go-to teething toy. Who knew!!!! We have bought so many teething toys, and his favorite thing to chew on is this miniature rubber duck!

He is so proud of himself that he is using the sippy cup for meals.

It's been a long day...we've got the spider man jammies on...Daddy's holding me tight, and it's almost time to say Goodnight!!!!

On the move

Where to start....Owen has grown so much over the past month. We visited family in Indiana for a few weeks and he came back to California a new little boy. He is now eating big boy food, not so much baby food anymore, and crawls around like he is on a constant mission. I have not had a chance to child-proof our place yet, so all of the interior doors are closed while he is awake. He has managed to smash his finger in a door already....luckily it wasn't too bad. He is into all kinds of mischief, and it's written all over his face. We are enjoying this new stage he is in, but I think I am going to have to go back to napping while he naps, because he is wearing me out. I am home for the summer, and am looking forward to all kinds of outings:) He had his 9 month checkup the other day and weighed in at 22 lbs. 11 oz. and is 30 inches long. Matt is scared to death that Owen is going to be a tall kid!

Owen's Baptism and Fathers Day

What a day! I got to celebrate Fathers day and the Baptism of our son on the same day. Owen was so well behaved - with a smile for everyone in the congregation.


Owen barely even flinched each of the three times that Pastor Rick poured water on his head.


Later, I took Owen up for the childrens' message.

After church, we stopped by Brooke's cousin Laura's house for a Fathers Day lunch. Check out my sweet hat.

While Dad's off feeding his face, Owen was content to just relax in the shade.

We had an eventful morning, and Owen couldn't quite make it home. I walked upstairs, making all kinds of noise - with sunlight in his eyes, and he never woke up....

...but a nap is like hitting the reset button!


Time to play outside and get a little sun.

Owen has started playing games whenever it's time to eat. One of his favorites is putting his head to one side and looking up at us with a shy smile. When we copy the move, he just laughs and giggles...and repeat.

C'mon Summer!

It seems Owen is getting teeth faster than I can type this blog entry. He has 5 in and is working on 3 more. Poor baby is drooling like crazy, and Matt and I walk around with huge wet spots on our clothes from it. He will be 8 months old on Sunday...maybe I should have waited a few days to blog! We are enjoying being outside more. Owen LOVES being outside. April, his babysitter, takes him on all kinds of outings during the day and says he gets SO excited when he sees birds and other animals. He is starting to lean into the crawling position but just kinda scoots around right now. He hasn't quite figured out the hand/foot thing together yet! I am on the school countdown...3 1/2 more days and then I get to hang with Owen every day!

Owen loves to mimic sounds and faces now. So fun:)
