Lounging Around

Daddy is taking advantage of vacation from work:)
Come to think of it, this is our first family photo!
Owen took a snooze in his crib. He looks SO small in it! Even when we lie him on his back, he rolls to his side. We took him for a weight check on Tuesday and he gained 9 oz. in one week. Guess he's eating well!

2 WEEKS OLD!!!!

Owen is becoming so aware of his surroundings. He enjoys laying and looking around.
Uncle Ward to the rescue!!! During a little crying spell, Ward calmed the mood by playing some tunes for Owen (and all of us as well!)

It looks like Owen has a smile on his face in this picture, but it was probably gas! Either way it is cute. Things are still going well. Owen is sleeping pretty well at night, and spending more time awake during the day. We go tomorrow to check weight gain. For as often as I feel like he eats, I would be really surprised if he lost weight. All of Owen's Grandparents leave California on Wednesday. Then reality sets in for Mom and Dad. Wish us luck!

Changing Already...

And the fun continues...Grandma and Grandpa Hake and Grandpa Fultz all arrived yesterday to meet Owen. He is not the least bit attention starved at the moment! We can't believe how fast Owen is changing. I wish I could stop the hands of time and keep him this little! He is gripping fingers, which is fun. Matt and I never thought we would be so excited about a burp, wet diaper, or POOPIE diaper. Matt has worn pee a few times now, and I will admit that I have been pooped on already:)

We had a moment today where we realized how different our lives are today from 2 weeks ago, and although we are still missing the sleep, we have never had so much fun! Hope you like these pictures, I am sure we'll take a thousand more in the next few days!

New Pics!

Owen is doing great! He is such an amazing miracle, and I am pretty sure that we are addicted! He is 5 days old and I feel like he has already changed so much. The first night home from the hospital was rough, but each night/day seems to get a little easier. I have neglected to call many people back who have called...we are just in survival mode at the moment! I am pretty sure that I have never been quite this exhausted, but obviously all worth it. My sentences are not making much sense and the clock seems to speed up every time I look at it. We are so happy and proud of our little boy and can't wait to show him the world and introduce him to everyone who is special to us!

OWEN MATTHEW HAKE is here!!!

No more waiting! Brooke gave birth to our son, Owen Matthew Hake, at 10:44pm on Oct 14th. He's 8lb 6oz and 19 in long. Brooke and Owen are both doing great. We just came home from the hospital this evening. I'll try to upload some pics of our ride home sometime tomorrow...for now, we're gonna try and get a few minutes of sleep ;)

Still more waiting...

So after the much anticipated appointment on Wednesday, we are still waiting! I had a few contractions on Friday night, and was dilated some, so my Dr. doesn't want to throw me on the operating table just yet. Matt and I had a chance to practice some breathing the other night when I had the contractions, and although he can tell the story better than I can write it, it was an experience for sure. Apparently I snapped at him and told him not to tell me what to do! I barely remember my tone, but he says it didn't go so well. So if I snapped at him on one contraction early on at home, he might be in for a treat in the delivery room! Here are a few pictures of the ever-changing nursery. We still have a few things to move around, but this is most of it. My mom got here this week and it has been so nice to hang out with her during the day while Matt is at work. We have another appt. on Monday:)

Patiently Waiting...

This is not the most glamorous picture of me, but oh well. Matt took this last night after we got home from our last "prepared childbirth" class. We now know EVERYTHING there is to know about having a baby...HAAAAAAA!
I also had a Dr.'s appt. yesterday. She said I don't have "the look" that a pregnant woman close to labor has. All of the signs lead to waiting a little longer. If still nothing by next Wed., then we will discuss scheduling a c-section. I am almost 38 weeks. I have accepted the possibility of both, and am anxiously anticipating the arrival regardless of how he/she arrives.

Here is the baby's room as of this morning. We will be getting the crib soon, but otherwise things are pretty much ready. The wall to the right that you can't see has Matt's guitars hanging and the music gear all nice and neat underneath. It looks pretty cool!
