I think I'm ready

Well, we had our 36th week appt. this past Tuesday. The ultrasound said our "little" munchkin is already 7 lbs. We know that this can be off somewhat, but we are still dealing with a bit larger than average baby. Because of a condition I have where my ligaments are relaxing TOO much, and delivering naturally could cause permanent damage, we had to come up with a game plan. Our Dr. does not want me to deliver a huge baby with this problem, so if I have not started labor on my own by the end of next week, we will schedule a c-section for the following week. Fear of the unknown has set in and I have been a bit "sensitive" the last few days. I think I am ready, but we still have some things to do around the house to prepare for our little one and for company:) We are at the peak of the roller coaster and getting ready to drop...fast! We'll be in touch. P.S. this pic is from several weeks ago...the baby and I are both bigger now:) and Matt's bib says, "I can't be good ALL the time"...isn't that the truth!

5 weeks and counting...

...and the belly is still getting bigger! The baby's movements (tumbling, squirming, punching, full-on dropkicks...) are also getting stronger. I've actually seen Brooke's whole body move while sitting on the couch just from the baby exercising in there.

As the belly gets bigger and the pregnancy progresses through the last few weeks, Brooke gets less comfortable and sleeps more fitfully - which means I sleep less. But the positive side is that we talk more between midnight and 4am than we ever used to.

And then it gets really, really, real! Yep, I took some time this weekend to assemble our new stroller and infant car seat. I walked around the living room carrying the infant car seat to get the feel of carting our little one around. I'm realizing that we'll NEVER travel light again.

This week Brooke and I took a tour of the maternity floor where she'll be delivering. As part of the tour we stopped by the nursery and saw some newborns... I couldn't stop staring. How completely amazing. As the "real-ness" continues to set in with strollers, car seats, diaper bags, etc... so does our excitement about holding our little one.

First Day of School

This picture was taken this past week on the first day of school..for me. I am now 34 weeks. Time is flying by and our weekend "to-do" lists just keep getting longer and longer. Ok Ok-MY weekend "to-do" lists. Matt has corrected me. HA! I am quite uncomfortable these days and sleeping/sitting/reaching...just about everything is getting harder and harder. We have started our "prepared childbirth classes." Funny how they call it prepared childbirth when all I hear is that you really can't prepare for what is going to happen once that baby decides it wants to join the real world. No, but really the classes are fun. We watched a movie the other night on birth from start to finish...the pregnancy hormones kicked in and I cried during the rest of the class and for the hour or so afterward. Great times. Not sure why exactly I was crying...just crying.
We have an appt. this Tuesday. Hope I don't cry:)
