Happy Holidays!

On the contrary to the pouty face that I get during tummy time, here are some shots of what I get when I go get him from the crib after a good nap! THIS is how I know he slept well and is ready to wake up. Actually he is probably laughing because he knows what he did in his diaper that mommy has to deal with next. There have been some major explosive events going on lately. Not fun. But anyway-we hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and we will return with many great Christmas photos when we get back from the midwest:)

SO pitiful

We have been doing lots of tummy time lately...and Owen is NOT a big fan of it. He starts off great and then a few minutes into it he gets so frustrated. Day by day we see improvement. We are having a snuggly day today. It is raining, windy, and only about 45 degrees. I know, I know...45 degrees isn't that bad, but it is a great excuse for us to stay in our PJ's all day!
Yes, this is the pitiful look that I get when he has just about had enough. Such a pouty face!

Well, his crib corner is finally complete. We put some pics of him in the frames and finally hung some other items from Grandma Hake and Grandma Fultz. The other night, Matt called to me from Owen's room and said, "Brooke, do you think the crib would hold my weight?" Ummm, No. He didn't check to find out, but that corner looks so cozy and inviting that we both wish we could crawl in there with Owen!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

We are getting geared up to get on a plane in 1 week! It is raining hard here today, which may not seem like a big deal, but we haven't had rain in months. It was SO great not to have to get up and go to work today. When it rains here, people act as if it is a natural disaster and act like crazy people. But, it does make it feel a little more like the holidays when it is cold and yucky outside, unlike the 75 degree weather we have been having up until this past weekend. Owen will not know what has hit him when he feels freezing temperatures!

Although it was cold, we took a walk last night. We realized as we were out that we didn't see many others out walking, and especially no strollers! Oh well, as you can see he was well bundled up and even fell asleep on the walk.
So relaxed.

2 month check up

Owen had his 2 month check up today. Poor little thing got shots and also an oral vaccine. He actually screamed more when she rubbed the cold swab of alcohol on his leg before the shots! I didn't watch and Matt held him as I turned my head with big tears in my eyes. Luckily it didn't last long. He stopped crying right away after that mean nurse (ha) left the room. He slept most of the afternoon. I think it wore him out.
Daddy likes to make Owen look funny when he's changing his clothes. We get more enjoyment out of it than Owen does right now. Obviously, his face says it all:)
My friend Sue-Anne's mom made this outfit for Owen. It is SO adorable. He was so tired at this point that we could barely keep him awake to take pictures. It has mittens with it too, but he was already so warm in this alone.
Seriously, we had a hard time keeping him awake!
Just some random changing pad shots. He is always so talkative and animated while he's getting his diaper changed.

Chubby Cheeks!

Now when I go in to get Owen up from the crib, he is so excited to see someone that he just smiles and laughs in excitement! He has been taking great naps lately:) Good times for Owen AND Mommy!
He has also just recently found his hand. He stares and stares at it, especially when he is sleepy. He definitely favors looking at his right hand. He still loses control of it sometimes and smacks himself in the face, and then makes a face like, "what was that?"
He has his 2 month checkup tomorrow. CAN'T BELIEVE HE IS 2 MONTHS OLD!

Smiley Day!!!

Today was the smiliest day yet for Owen. He just smiled so much that I couldn't help but to sit with the camera and try to capture it. Although he has been smiling for a week or so in response to us, today was the first day where I felt like I could catch it on camera.
Well, then there was the time where he stuck out his tongue at me! He's learning fast. I think Matt has been teaching him to stick out his tongue behind my back:) Gotta love the items on the table behind me..the Purell, the book What to Expect the First Year, the nail clippers, and most importantly the snot sucker!

So sweet.

Fun at the "Gym"

Owen had fun today playing on the gymini mat. He wore himself out and went to sleep pretty much the minute I picked him up.

We are Thankful!

Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Hake came to town for Thanksgiving and met their first Great Grandchild. Owen had a great Thanksgiving and did really well being gone all day. We spent a few hours at my cousin Laura's, and then we had dinner at Matt's Uncle Ward's. We were worried that he would have a meltdown at the end of the day from being gone and out of our "routine", but he did great!
As many of you know, Matt has a thing with noses, and loves to "squish" baby noses. I always smack his hand when he does it to Owen, but he got away with it this time. This picture is for you Molly!
He loved being held by Great Grandma.
We have been taking walks at night, but it gets really chilly, so we bundle him up. He gets so warm and snuggly that he usually falls asleep. We're just practicing bundling him up for when we go to Indiana!

Whatever works!

This is a surfboard tummy time mat that Owen loves...Well, loves for a few minutes. He gets really frustrated after only a short time of being on his tummy, so we flipped him over and took this pic. I am sure Matt will have him surfing for real in no time!
Owen finally likes sitting in a bouncy seat! Yipppeeee...Here he is staring at the zebra toy hanging from the bar over the seat.
The nursery is ALWAYS changing.
Since Owen has had a difficult time with acid reflux, the pediatrician told us to put him in the car seat to sleep. Before, he made gagging sounds and squirmed a lot during the night. We feel kinda funny doing this every night, but boy has it worked like a charm. He has been taking naps during the day in his crib, just so he doesn't get TOO used to sleeping in the car seat. Coincidentally, the car seat actually clips to the edges of the bassinet and it fits perfectly! So, sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Big Boy

"You might want to check my diaper, Mom."
I swear he looks SO big here. I put an outfit on him last night and he couldn't stretch out his legs. It was a sad moment for me. So we are now onto bigger clothes:)

Because Matt is at work all day and holds him when he gets home, I resort to taking pictures of myself with Owen. It has become a game that he and I play to see how many tries it takes to get a decent pic before he gets mad! Guess he better get used to it!

Learning Muay Thai

So Daddy thought he would get a head start in teaching Owen how to kickbox...here he is saying "left cross, left jab, uppercut..." It is pretty funny.
Owen is grabbing things, including my hair and jewelry:( , and following objects closely with his eyes.
I just love his little feet.

ONE MONTH OLD!

Owen had his one month check-up yesterday. He is growing so fast. Two weeks ago he weighed 8lbs. 9oz. and yesterday he weighed 10 lbs. 3 oz! I knew he was gaining weight but GEEZ:) We are learning how to go in public more with him (what to take and how long we have!) and I am getting more into a routine, somewhat. He is sleeping in 3-5 hour stretches at night, which is better than the 2 hour mark we were at for a while! Owen has started "cooing" and responding to us. This was as close as I could get to catching a smile:)
"How many times do I have to look at the camera, MOM???"

Still growing...

He is looking so big already!!! We put the rolled up blanket at the bottom of the bouncy seat because even when he's strapped in, he still seems to slide right out of the bottom of it.
SO precious when sleeping!

Mommy was trying to stay awake during the Purdue game this past weekend. We finally got DirecTV so that we could watch the games at home, and now the team is not doing very much to keep me from wanting to take a nap with Owen!

Bathtime baby!

I try very hard to swaddle Owen so that he sleeps better without me holding him, but I am not very good at it. Sometime I will take a picture of Owen after Matt has swaddled him and you will see the difference. It makes for a really long day if he wakes up every time I put him down, so I really need to get this down! The pic below is of my lame swaddle job.

This was Owen's last sponge bath. His cord piece fell off right after this so now we can give him a real bath. Then begin the blackmail pictures!
